show : Renegade Craft Fair 2014

This coming weekend (September 13 + 14) I will be showing and selling at Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn! The fair is right on the East River off Kent Ave. between 10th & 11th St.

I will be sharing Booth #1 (right by the main entrance and information tent) with my friend Beth of Honest Alchemy Co. Beth makes beautiful sustainable textiles and accessoies using 100% natural fibers and plant-based pigments. She is a fellow Philadelphia artist and a wonderful soul.  

There will be over 150 tents and 250 vendors to check out, and of course lots of good food, music and a free photobooth! If you're in the area or just in the city for the day please stop by and say hello!

Coral and Tusk Popup Shop - last days!

 

My wonderful friends at Coral & Tusk have had a popup shop in Brooklyn for the past month and now we're down to the final days! Along with their own beautiful embroidered pieces (I have a bunch of their pillows) they are stocking other makers, like Amelie Mancini, Catbird, M Quan, Peg & Awl, and me! Check it out if you're in the area and let me know how awesome that huge tipi is!!!

I'm very happy to say that I'll be exhibiting this weekend at Capsule New York Womens!  

While the main show focuses on womenswear and accessories, I'll be in the Donut Shop extension.  This is the cash and carry section of the show where they bring together brands from other design and creative disciplines outside of fashion.  I'll be bringing some of my new pieces for F/W 2013 as well as my current line.  

Other brands I'm excited about seeing are Odette NY, Another Feather, Ilana Kohn, Fischer, Black Crane, Mociun, Bailey Doesn't Bark, and Coral & Tusk, among many others.

hi friends, thanks to everyone who came out to RCF this weekend, I had so much FUN. I'll definitely be applying to future dates, who knows, maybe I'll even try for Chicago this december...

here's a few photos from the show, I also got to explore my dad's old stomping ground sunday morning, though williamsburg has changed a bit since the 1940s.  it was kind of a melancholy moment to see that his house (and where my grandfather had his metalsmithing and roofing storefront) is now an overgrown vacant lot.  maybe one day another family will make it their home, for now it can be a home for brooklyn wildlife...

Phew, this week is proving to be a busy and productive one, all driving towards Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn this weekend!  I am super excited for this show: a) because I'll have a permanent booth buddy in Tracy, b) because I know a bunch of other talented people who will be traveling from Philly to show as well, and c) because I've heard so many good things about this show and I'm just plain excited to be included!

Details are on the flyer, but I'll be hanging out at booth 180 along with all my usual pieces and a few extra special ones I'm whipping up for the weekend.  Right now I'm working on making a new tent sign and a few new table stands.  So much to do... four days to go... back to work!

Despite bringing tent walls in a superstitious attempt to ward away rain, we did get a spontaneous shower on Sunday afternoon.  However, the Clover Market vendors and customers proved that nothing can get in the way of that excellent market!

And then the sun was out again!  The rest of the afternoon was sunny and warm, and us vendors already started planning mini reunions to stay in touch until the fall market series starts up again in September!

I had a great time this weekend, and the weather was absolutely beautiful.  It was perfect for lounging on the grass, having a picnic, playing some frisbee and people/dog watching.  It was also perfect to be minding a booth outside for three days, though I have to admit that by the end of day 3 I was ready for a long nap!  (especially since I churned out some emergency terrariums on Friday night/Saturday morning)  I loved meeting all you great people who stopped by my tent, but I'll admit that I may have enjoyed dog watching the most.  I even started recognizing some of the dogs on their daily routines.  One massive black dog with a tiny pink bow in her hair stands out in my memory the most.

For those of you in the area who missed out on the Rittenhouse show (or who just want to say hi again!), I will be showing in Philly again this weekend, at the Trenton Ave Arts Fest in East Kensington.  And with that being said, I think I need to get back to work!

This past weekend went so fast, between Wilmington and Ardmore I also went up to Easton, PA for a quick trip!  Thanks so much to everyone who came out to my shows, it means so much to see you guys and to meet new people.  This weekend I felt overwhelmed with everyone's generosity and support, so thank you! 

As usual, it seems these days I never end up taking many photos of my stand, but here are a few I can share.  I don't know if you noticed, but I actually forgot a piece of my stand in that top left photo (let me know if you can figure out the part, it is important and visible).  Luckily I was right next to my friends at Volta Organics so I spent lots of time catching up and playing with their adorable little girl.  Clover Market was amazing as usual.  I think it's really one of the best organized and vended shows that I do.  And this time I had more time to talk to people, so I am brimming with talented people I can't wait to post about on Fridays!

Now I have 4 days of prep before my next show, and I have lots of exciting things to share with you later in the week, so stay tuned!

Friday, May 4th: This friday is the Alternatives Handmade Market at the DCCA in Wilmington, DE.  Amy has rounded up some great people for their spring trunk show, and it coincides with all the First Friday events in Wilmington!

Sunday, May 6th: I'll be at Clover Market again in Ardmore, PA along with over a hundred amazing crafters and vintage hunters.  There are great food vendors as well, last month I had fish tacos for lunch, mmm mmm.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, May 11th-13th:  I'll be booth 104 at the PA Guild of Craftsmen show on Rittenhouse Square here in Philly!  There will be 140 of the guild's best artists showing their works around the perimeter of the park, and it coincides with Mother's Day weekend, so you can make a day of it (or get a last minute handmade gift).

Saturday, May 19th: And my last show in May will be the Trenton Ave Arts Festival, which celebrates East Kensington's incredible mix of local artists, musicians, and eateries. It is held on Trenton Avenue, a wide-open cobblestone street that has been part of Kensington’s rich creative history for over a hundred years.  There will be 200+ booths, as well as the Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby. 

I hope to see you at one (or all!) of these shows.  I'll have everything in my shop and more...

I didn't get too many photos on Sunday at Clover Market but I still wanted to share a few.  The day was really beautiful and it warmed up so much in the afternoon that I left with a bit of a sunburn!  All the Clover customers (and vendors) were as lovely as I remembered from last year, I'm so happy with the turnout and everyone's compliments.  It really means a lot to have people talk to me about my work and appreciate what I'm doing.

This week I'm getting organized for another show on Saturday, this time in Brooklyn, NY!  I'll be at the Prospect Heights Craft Fair from 11am-6pm at PS 9.  The booth fees and proceeds from the fair go to benefit the arts program at the school, which is amazing, so if you're in the area please come by!  And remember my friend Virginie from this new friend friday post?  She will be there as well with her jewelry!

show: DCCA Alternatives

Anyone in the area who has not been to the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts should get over there as soon as they get a chance.  It's a great museum showcasing artists from all over the country.  They are always changing exhibits so whenever you go it seems like there is something new to see.  And they have a great museum gift shop, selling all local handmade works that would make great presents.  It was such a pleasure to take part in their Alternatives Holiday Craft Show on Friday night!  Amy (the retail manager at the museum shop) found 21 very varied artists to show their work. There were holiday singers, beverages, beautiful art, and everyone was in holiday spirits!

We got to try out our new displays and debut some new work!  I couldn't have asked for a better show to start off the holiday season!

I'll be restocking my shop this week and adding new items, so keep checking back.

I'm going to be taking some time this week and next to regroup.  I seriously need to replenish my jewelry and a few other items that have proved popular at the shows recently.

I've listed a few new items in my shop, but there will be more coming.  The yellow dodecahedron nightlight is up (the last one from the first set!), and the blue circles nightlight is up as well.  The circles proved so popular that I sold two of them before I even had a chance to take any good photos. I finished three of them on Thursday and by Monday I only had one left!

A few people have also been asking about the star ornaments I had at the last two shows, so I've posted a listing for those as well.  I'll be making those pretty much as custom orders (unless I just happen to have the colors you want already made up), so when ordering make sure to give your color preferences, and let me know if you want more than one - there is a discount for purchasing two or more!

Agate & Stained Glass Nightlights

What a fun show!  The weather did not disappoint on Sunday, in fact I think it was the sunniest stand we've had this year!  It was a great opportunity to really show off all the new pieces I've been beavering away at for the past few weeks.  Throughout the day the sun shone through the stained glass, creating beautiful displays of color and light everywhere.  Whenever the sun hit the bird mobiles it cast colorful bird shadows all around the tent, and there was just enough wind to make the birds twirl around in the breeze.  Overall, I think that the vendors and customers at Clover were some of the most friendly I've experienced so far this year!

show: PA Guild of Craftsmen Show

 I had a really fun time at the Guild show this past weekend.  They gather together such a great group of artists and crafters, we were all joking around the whole weekend.  Despite the abnormally windy weather, we tied everything down, and I'm glad to say that now all of my sculptures, lamps and mobiles have been tried and tested for winds up to 45mph ;)

This Sunday was the Downingtown Log House Arts & Crafts Show.  Even though the weather was definitely not in our favor, the show was still very fun, mainly because I got to hang out with my friend Ann and catch up with my new crafty friend, Tracy of Punkrocknits :)
