geode nightlights

I finally got some more geode slices and went to work making one of a kind nightlights, as well as another project for the holidays.  Aren't the agate slices amazing?  It's hard not to be inspired by them.

sale: 7/19-7/26

There are a few items in the shop on sale for one week only.  They include a few new items that I wanted to offer at a special price to introduce them, and a few one of a kind items that have been hanging around a bit longer.  This will probably be the only time I'll be offering the new items (like the pyramids) at this price for the rest of the year, so take advantage of it while it's available!

Also, I've decided to open a Big Cartel shop.  Now when you click on "My Shop" over on the right that's where it will take you.  I like the simplicity of their layouts, which I think makes each piece easier to read, and I've customized the checkout process so you can choose options (like whether you want silver or copper finish).  Maybe one day I'll move there completely, but for now my Etsy shop is still open for business, and most of the one of a kind pieces are still there as well.

Had a cold but fun weekend, yesterday was the first day it really felt like winter to me.  I think my fingers and toes have forgotten what warmth is (I come by my icicle-like appendages via my Mom).  Anyway, all the more reason to bake warm bread and wear tights everyday...

back on the radar

Hi friends! Sorry I was off the radar last week.  I took a break to somewhere a bit warmer.  But now I'm back in Philly and working on new ideas, including some little things for Valentine's Day (January has been flying by!)  I've already put a few of them in the shop, including some Lovebugs (imaginary flying hearts) and some Swan Partners. 

The Lovebugs that are in the shop are about 5 1/2" wide, but I'm going to be making some slightly smaller ones too.  I think they are going to look really neat when there are a bunch hanging together around my apartment.  However, my favorite new items are the swan partners.  Did you know that swans mate for life?  I actually saw some black swans on my trip, so that's probably where I got the idea to make them in glass.  My glass versions have curved wings and elongated necks, as though they have been captured mid-flight. 

In the coming weeks I'll be putting some new poetry sculptures in the shop, as well as Valentine-suitable items, so keep checking back over the next few weeks!

happy holidays

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend, I know I did!  My weekend was pretty busy with two family parties and meeting up with friends, but somehow I got some work smushed in there as well.  I'll be at the DCCA Alternatives Holiday Craft Show this Friday so I'm getting a lot of new work ready.

On a side note, I'm doing something special this holiday season.  For a long time the WWF has been close to my heart and now my 11 year old niece Naomi has taken a shine to the organization as well.  She is always planning fundraisers and has inspired me to donate 5% of my proceeds from now through December to the WWF.  Anyone who orders will be able to vote on which animal the proceeds will benefit: the polar bear, rockhopper penguin or snow leopard, which are all on the WWF's endangered animal list.

Looking forward to decorating, cozy nights by the fire, lots of cooking, and having tons of time with family and friends over the coming months!

As my way of saying thank you this discount will be live in my Etsy shop all weekend from Thursday through Sunday.  I'll be happily celebrating my first Thanksgiving living back in PA (for those who don't know, I've been living abroad the past 4 years).

regrouping

New lamp incorporating what I call "the Monet glass"   ::   Stand from last weekend!

I'm going to be taking some time this week and next to regroup.  I seriously need to replenish my jewelry and a few other items that have proved popular at the shows recently.

I've listed a few new items in my shop, but there will be more coming.  The yellow dodecahedron nightlight is up (the last one from the first set!), and the blue circles nightlight is up as well.  The circles proved so popular that I sold two of them before I even had a chance to take any good photos. I finished three of them on Thursday and by Monday I only had one left!

A few people have also been asking about the star ornaments I had at the last two shows, so I've posted a listing for those as well.  I'll be making those pretty much as custom orders (unless I just happen to have the colors you want already made up), so when ordering make sure to give your color preferences, and let me know if you want more than one - there is a discount for purchasing two or more!

shop update!

There are a few new platonic solids in the shop today, including a new style with sheet music inside!

Poets this week include Lewis Carroll, William Blake and Patti Smith...

I'm beginning to take orders for the holidays so contact me if you want to make your own platonic solid for that special someone, or if you want to make something else!
